French grid operator Electricité Réseau Distribution France (ErDF) has announced 3,126MW of PV capacity had been installed in France by the end of last year.

Out of a total of 262,851 installations, the south-west of France had the most installed capacity with 797.1MW and central France with only 60.3MW.

In France, wind power had the highest installed capacity of all renewables, with 6,820MW from 1,059 installations.

Earlier this month, the French Ministry for Sustainable Development and Energy released details of emergency measures to boost the country's solar industry.

The measures are intended to offset the French solar industry's trade deficit, which has grown to €1.35 billion, and meet its target of 1GW of installed solar capacity by the end of this year.
