ABB already collaborates with a number of academic research groups world-wide. The ABB Research Grant Program is intended to enlarge and complement the circle of our university partners.

Through this university collaboration program, ABB reinforces its commitment to an Open Innovation approach. By partnering the researchers from the ABB Corporate Research Centers with the best graduate students and professors from around the world, ABB plans to support a truly collaborative innovation ecosystem,” said Prith Banerjee, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of ABB.

The application process will start on November 1, 2012 and will close on November 30, 2012. Funding will be approved for one year at a time, but the program is designed to fund projects over multiple years. Grants will typically fall within the range of $50,000 to $80,000 a year and the principal investigator or main applicant will hold a position as a professor associated with a university, university college, or research institute.

Successful candidates will be notified by December 31, 2012 and funding will commence on January 1, 2013.
