Soudal, manufacturer of sealants, adhesives and PU foams for construction, home improvement and industrial applications, has a long tradition of focus on innovation and adaptation to local market needs.

This long standing vision now resulted in the erection of a brand-new Research and Development facility in Turnhout, Belgium, situated next to Soudal headquarters. It underlines the innovative spirit of Soudal.

With a turnover of over 350 Million Euro per year and more than 1300 employees, Soudal combines 7 production facilities in Belgium, Germany, Poland, The Netherlands, USA, China and Chile. It develops commercial activities in over 100 countries on all continents and can not be compared to the one-man company when it was founded, less than 45 years ago.

The elaborate product range and the support of its impressive geographical presence are only possible thanks to continuous investment in research and development of new and improved products. As a part of this, construction of the new R&D building started in 2009 to be finalised and officially opened early 2011. The new 5-story high project with a floor area of over 3000 m² represents an investment of some € 10 million. Next to its headquarters, 30 highly trained employees are working in the research centre every day to develop tomorrow’s products. On top of that, also the technical service department and IT services (with new fail-safe IT server infrastructure) will be centralised there.

On top of this, training facilities are available for presentations, receptions as well as hands-on product training for employees, professional end-users and commercial partners.

During the opening ceremony the Flemish prime minister Mr. Kris Peeters opened this state-of the art facility in the presence of Soudal chairman Vic Swerts.
