GE Energy, one of the world’s leading suppliers of power generation and energy delivery technologies, earmarks 18 turbines for a wind farm on the Pakri peninsular in the northwest of Estonia.

The Paldiski Wind Farm is operated by the power supply companies Eesti Energia AS und Nelja Energio OÜ, each of which will be purchasing nine GE 2.5-100 turbines.

GE has in return agreed to provide full maintenance services for the first ten years.

The turbines are to be delivered in spring 2012, and the farm is scheduled for grid connection later in the same year.

According to GE, Estonia had installed 149 MW wind energy capacity by the end of 2010. New projects totalling some 570 MW are currently under development.
