The planning department of Yanqing County, Beijing recently announced that China’s first solar thermal power demonstration plant will be built in the Badaling area. Experts have already approved the architectural designs for the solar power tower of the plant.
The Badaling demonstration and experimental base project of solar thermal electricity generation technologies and systems is a major innovative and environmental protection project conducted by the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It received support from the National High-Tech Research and Development Program. After comprehensive study of China’s policy orientation and Yanqing County’s role as Beijing’s renewable resources demonstration district, Yanqing has chosen to locate the project in Dafutuo Village, Badaling Town. The area boasts the richest solar resources as well as the best conditions to develop and utilize solar energy.
