Based on this contract, certificates issued by TÜV SÜD are now recognized in all EU Member States without further audits. This benefits international biofuel producers, processors and suppliers.
The ISCC EU certification is based on the EU Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources. The Directive defines the sustainability criteria to be fulfilled by biofuels and other bioliquids.
Following recognition of the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) by the European Commission, ISCC-EU certifications can now also be used as a proof that the criteria of the Directive have been fulfilled throughout all EU Member States. Manufacturers, processors and suppliers of biofuels and other bioliquids need the corresponding certificate to benefit from subsidies and tax incentives.
