China's total installed thermal solar power capacity will reach 3,000 MW by 2015, according to a climate change report by the Chinese Social Sciences Academic Press (SSAP).

The market value will reach CNY 45 billion (USD 7.22bn/EUR 5.62bn) by then, shows the report named Annual Report on Actions to Address Climate Change 2012.

China's annual average power generated from solar radiation per square metre (10.8 sq ft) is 1,500 kWh, which is probably enough to meet the annual power consumption of an average household, SSAP calculates.

The southern Tibet and the Golmud regions are have the highest solar radiation rate, while the southwestern China's municipality of Chongqing has the lowest rate, the report notes.
