China Acknowledges Energy Efficiency Gap
China recognises the energy efficiency gap between what developed countries are attaining compared with what they have achieved, despite their wish to reduce consumption and CO2 emissions.
During this weeks World Energy Forum 2012 in Dubai the director-general of China's Department of International Cooperation for the country's Science and Technology Ministry, Jin Xiaoming stated that "there is still a considerable gap between China and developed countries in energy efficiency and capabilities.
"We have launched a host of energy efficiency measures for furnaces, electric mechanical equipment, buildings and lighting," Jin said.
Despite these efforts more is needed to match the developed world. Hence China is turning to Europe and North America to increase their understanding of how to manage energy and reduce consumption through improved energy efficiency.
